Holt

Brian grew up immersed in the world of manufacturing, spending his formative years in his father’s Tool and Die shop. From the age of 12, he honed his skills on manual milling and turning equipment, gaining early exposure to CNC milling and various manufacturing processes. This early hands-on experience ignited Brian’s passion for precision engineering and innovative technologies.

After high school, Brian embarked on a journey that intertwined education with practical experience. While attending ICC, he worked at a local pattern shop where he met Bill Mitchner, a visionary entrepreneur in the industry. Bill recognized Brian’s talent and offered him a role at Alcast in 1990, where he began his career in tool design using the newly acquired AutoCAD system.

Brian’s dedication to learning didn’t stop there. He balanced full-time work at Alcast with pursuing a degree at SIUC, continuing to contribute significantly to the company during summers and breaks. Upon graduating in 1993, Brian’s commitment and expertise earned him the position of Manager of Quality and Design at Alcast. Under his leadership, he streamlined mold design and process control, leveraging technology to develop innovative solutions such as the ACESS database program, which remains integral to Alcast’s operations today.

As Alcast evolved, Brian took on increasingly pivotal roles, eventually becoming Vice President of Engineering in the early 2000s. His leadership and strategic vision were instrumental during the transition to new ownership in 2020, where he assumed the title of Executive Vice President, overseeing quoting and engineering efforts. In 2023, Brian’s role shifted to Vice President of Sales, where he continues to excel in cultivating new opportunities, developing customer relationships, and guiding engineering initiatives.

Throughout his 34-year tenure at Alcast, Brian has been a cornerstone of expertise and mentorship. He is known for his willingness to share his wealth of experience and insights, often advising on quality, engineering, and operational challenges. Brian finds great fulfillment in witnessing the contributions of the next generation, particularly his son Jared, who serves as Senior Foundry Engineer, and applauds the ongoing advancements led by Josh and Jake at Alcast.
